U.S.B. indaga il rapporto sempre più ambiguo tra intelligenza umana e tecnologia. Il cervello, simbolo della coscienza, della memoria e dell'identità, viene trasformato in un dispositivo di archiviazione, dotato di un connettore USB che ne suggerisce un utilizzo funzionale, quasi industriale. L'essere umano sembra così ridotto a un supporto da collegare, aggiornare, copiare o sostituire.
Realizzata in cemento o gesso, materiali fragili e al tempo stesso quotidiani, l'opera accentua il contrasto tra la complessità del pensiero e la standardizzazione imposta dall'era digitale. La conoscenza perde la sua dimensione esperienziale per diventare dato, mentre la memoria rischia di trasformarsi in semplice informazione trasferibile.
U.S.B. invita a riflettere su una domanda sempre più attuale: quando il sapere può essere archiviato e condiviso come un file, cosa resta di ciò che rende davvero umano il pensiero?
U.S.B. explores the increasingly ambiguous relationship between human intelligence and technology. The brain—an enduring symbol of consciousness, memory, and identity—is transformed into a storage device, equipped with a USB connector that suggests a functional, almost industrial purpose. The human being is thus reduced to a medium that can be connected, updated, copied, or replaced.
Crafted in concrete or plaster, materials that are both fragile and commonplace, the work emphasizes the contrast between the complexity of human thought and the standardization imposed by the digital age. Knowledge loses its experiential dimension and becomes data, while memory risks being reduced to information that can be transferred like a file.
U.S.B. invites viewers to reflect on an increasingly relevant question: when knowledge can be stored and shared like a digital file, what remains of the qualities that make human thought truly human?
